What we modernize

The legacy stacks we take on.

If your system is built on any of these, we can parse it into a model and generate a modern application from it. If yours is not listed, ask us. The approach applies to more stacks than we can list here.

PowerBuilder

PowerBuilder → TypeScript / React

PowerBuilder ran a huge share of the client/server business applications built in the 1990s and 2000s, and many of them still run companies today. The problem is people: the developers who built these systems are retiring, and new engineers do not learn PowerBuilder. We parse the application, including DataWindows and the business rules embedded in them, into a model and generate a modern web application from it.

We moved a manufacturing system with more than 20 years in production to the web in half the usual migration time, and cut its maintenance costs by 40%. See the case studies →

Visual Basic 6

VB6 → TypeScript / React

Microsoft ended support for Visual Basic 6 years ago, but VB6 forms and business logic are still in production everywhere, and the runtime gets harder to keep alive with every Windows release. We map the full codebase, every form, module, and dependency, then transform it into a standard web application your team can maintain.

We mapped a financial firm’s VB6 codebase of millions of lines and delivered a complete migration plan in two months. See the case studies →

COBOL

COBOL → clean, standard code

COBOL still runs core back-office processing in finance, insurance, and government. The systems work, but every year fewer people can maintain them. We model COBOL programs and generate clean, standard code, preserving business rules that took decades to accumulate.

Nexaweb

Nexaweb → modern HTML5 architecture

Nexaweb powered enterprise rich internet applications before HTML5, and platform support has since ended, so applications built on it need a path forward. Nobody knows Nexaweb like we do: Vivify was founded by the team behind it. We convert Nexaweb applications to a modern HTML5 architecture automatically.

We converted a financial system spanning hundreds of screens and cut the migration period by 40%. See the case studies →

Legacy web & more

Aging web stacks → TypeScript / React

Not every aging system is a household name. Early Java web frameworks, old JavaScript stacks, and proprietary runtimes like Biz/Browser all reach the same point: hard to maintain, hard to hire for, and stuck behind the browser and security requirements of today. The approach is the same: parse, model, generate. We also handle related migrations, like converting Oracle PL/SQL to PostgreSQL for cloud moves.

We moved a Biz/Browser application to HTML5 with more than 90% of the conversion automated, and converted a public-sector Oracle PL/SQL codebase to PostgreSQL at 95% automation. See the case studies →

A track record across major enterprises

Not sure your system fits one of these?

Tell us what it runs on. A short conversation is usually enough to know whether the approach applies, and a POC on a slice of your code proves it.
